Education and us : Converting life into numbers

Ved Prakash Bhardwaj

Both are on the run but they cannot be given each other's roles. I am talking about Dutichand and Mithali Raj. Dutichand can run very fast on the track, but faster than Mithali Raj, can we expect her to score like Mithali? Or can we expect Mithali Raj to win the medal by setting a record on the track? Both have their abilities and limitations. And the dreams of both are also different. In the same way, every child has his or her own ability and dreams too. Then why most of us parents expect the same results from their children without knowing their ability and desire. The latest CBSE exam results have surprised everyone. Nobody would have imagined that anyone can score hundred percent marks in all subjects including English and Sanskrit. Last year some students scored 499 out of 500. This time the record was also broken. Now further? Will more than 100 percent marks be awarded? This question is starting to arise. This time the percentage of students scoring 95 percent or more has increased. Those who have secured 100% marks this time are definitely eligible for congratulations. This is the result of their hard work. But don't we think that we have changed the lives of our children into a game of numbers? There is constant pressure on children that they get maximum marks and for some reason, they are unable to score more, then they feel mental pressure even if they do not want to. Do you know that most of the people who made their mark in the field of knowledge science were average students in school-colleges? It is true that there was not so much competition at that time, but who started this competition? Are we not the parents responsible for this?
